Position Overview:

Assist the department manager in leading the department in meeting goals and objectives. Clearly communicate department vision and strategic plan to senior management, supervision and employees. Assist in securing corporate resources needed to meet department goals and future growth. Responsible for safety, quality, productivity, cost and employee relations.

This position will report directly to the Processing Manager.

Main Responsibilities:

-Creates and manages weekly processing planning schedule covering all aspects of productions, co-manufacturing schedules as well as tanker and railcar deliveries and shipment needs.

-Manages daily manpower needs for department including submission of manpower schedule.

-Manages and submits requisition requests for all processing department materials, including safety equipment, protective clothing, lab supplies, tools, etc.

-Responsible for supporting the management of 17,000,000 gallons of bulk tank farm storage.

-Assist department manager in yearly budget planning for department.

-Provides direction to department supervisors to ensure proper and timely execution of the processing plan.

-Provides coverage support to the processing supervisors and group leaders, as necessary.

-Responsible for the management of processing dry and refrigerated ingredient storage areas.

-Supports the processing specialist on projects for the North East Plants processing department.

-Plans delivery of inbound bulk ingredients, by tanker and rail, to support the requirements of the processing schedule.

-Generates the bills of lading, certificates of analysis, and other paperwork as necessary for inbound loads, as well as outbound material shipments to customers and co-manufacturers.

-Works with department and plant teams and project groups to support continuous improvement.

Additional Responsibilities:

-Working with Processing department manager to support and implement policies and goals.

-Work with Quality on SQF implementation and department compliance.

-Work with Quality on maintaining HACCP compliance.

-Work with Maintenance department on work order priority and coordinating completion of work.

-Monitor department sanitation and work with supervision to assure department compliance.

-Fill in as Department Manager as needed

-Work with Department manager in the planning, management and support of seasonal activities

-Work with HR and scheduling to assure new supervisory and bid training is completed efficiently

-Promotes departmental and cross departmental continuous improvement initiatives to support company value chain Cost Savings.

-Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

-Willing to work various shifts to support 7 day/24 hour operations

-Ensures performance is within budget requirements

-Strong troubleshooting, verbal and written communication skills to effectively present to other processing supervisors, departments and processing employees.

Minimum Qualifications:

-Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a food and beverage manufacturing environment

-Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in processing operations

-Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in operations planning

-Minimum of 2-3 years of experience with seasonal operation at supervisory level.

-Experience in fruit juice handling, pasteurization, and blending

-Experience in tank farm management and planning

-Solid record in safety and continuous improvement.
