We're looking for a Processing Manager to join our team to successfully implement short and long term production planning strategies in the processing of single strength juice, purees, and concentrates of grapes and apples.  This position will play a significant role for results in production efficiency, quality, sanitation and cost containment and is a key stakeholder for financial results of the plant.


What You'll Do:


  • Manage the harvest containment plan by developing and implementing a schedule for single strength, concentrate, kosher, DTC, puree, and organic processing. This includes planning and ordering of processing aids / enzymes, scheduling of Rabbis for Kosher juice, and meeting daily with Welch's management and National Coop employees to provide containment updates
  • Manage the post-harvest containment plan including tank management, processing of grape and apple, monitoring tanks for settling issues and fermentation, and tank bottoms processing
  • Work closely with Management staff in review of daily processing results and help implement corrective action plans for unfavorable variances
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement and cost saving initiatives
  • Act as a leader in the plant by positively engaging with the workforce, conducting training, addressing performance concerns, and maintaining a safe work environment
  • Participate in internal audits of the facilities and employee GMPs and perform root cause analysis in developing action plans for non-conformance and/or not meeting production targets


Who You Are:

  • Proficient understanding in processing grapes and other fruits into single strength, puree and concentrates.
  • Proficient mechanical aptitude in understanding of pressing, decanting, enzyme treatments, filtering, concentrating and storage of fruit processing and the equipment used in those processes
  • Confronts performance problems directly. Provides helpful suggestions and constructive, motivating feedback.
  • A proactive person who takes steps to improve plant performance, GMPs, safety and employee relations to ensure a healthy work environment
  • Someone with a 'making it happen' attitude including; acting with urgency, embracing ambiguity, and daring to try
  • A team player who has the interpersonal skills to manage relationships within the plant as well as effectively communicate with sales, brokers, international customers, vendors, and corporate Welch employees
  • Willing to work various shifts in a 24x7 operation, 12 hours during seasonal operations


What You'll Need:

  • A Bachelor's Degree (Operations Management or Engineering preferred) or equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • At least five years of experience in Fruit Processing Management (grape preferred)
  • Experience with production scheduling
