Reporting to the President & CEO, the Vice President, Human Resources will provide human resource functional and strategic leadership to the organization, working with the leadership team to develop and execute the people strategy to help achieve the organizational objectives.  Functionally, s/he will be responsible for talent management, labor and employee relations, benefits, compensation, learning and development, organizational design, internal communications, charitable giving, compliance and facilities, including leadership of a team of 14.  Functions as a strategic business advisor to the CEO, Board of Directors and leadership team.


What You'll Do:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive staffing and retention plans to meet organizational needs in both corporate and plant environments
  • Define the candidate and employee experience from talent acquisition through on-boarding, development and separation by creating and implementing innovative approaches that create a competitive advantage for the organization
  • Develop and execute labor relations workplace and contract negotiation strategies to support the needs of the business
  • Continuously assess and ensure cost effective competitiveness of compensation, benefits and other programs and practices
  • Provide ongoing direction, advice and counsel on organization design through a deep understanding of the business operations, systems, processes and functions
  • Work with the leadership team to create the internal communications strategy and tone as well as the processes and tools
  • Serve as management lead for the Compensation Committee and Nominating and Governance Committee of the Welch Board of Directors as well as the management lead for the Compensation Committee of the National Board of Directors
  • Participate as a key member of the senior management team and Officer of Welch Foods, Inc., lending guidance and counsel on overall business and strategy direction
  • Oversee all building operations for the Concord Corporate office


Who You Are:

  • A business-minded professional with demonstrated expertise in Human Resources across a variety of HR disciplines including staffing, change leadership, labor relations, compensation, benefits, performance management, organizational design, training and development
  • A strong visionary leader able to champion and influence cross-functionally throughout the organization - results oriented possessing a hands-on, high action mindset
  • A proven driver of change with a union workforce
  • A trusted advisor to members of the executive team and to the broader colleague base as well
  • Ideally you started your career in a larger organization, which tends to provide classic training and discipline, and then you've also worked in a smaller company with a broader span of responsibility, requiring flexing between working strategically and tactically
  • A collaborative colleague who brings energy, empathy, a sense of humor, and the ability to engage with others both professionally and personally - executives with large egos do not find success in our culture


What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree required.  - MBA would be a plus
  • 15 plus years' experience in Human Resources, at least 5 of which have been at an executive level
  • Must have union/labor relations management experience, CPG experience a plus
  • SHRM-SCP certification a plus
  • Ability and willingness to travel ~20%
